Antique Victorian Onyx Orb Fob 22ct Gold on Silver Earth Globe Pendant Watch Chain Necklace

This rare and mysterious Victorian onyx orb fob features a captivating Earth globe design, with a perfectly shaped onyx sphere freely moving inside its tilted orbit. We have seen other Victorian orb fobs - often steeped in Masonic symbolism - but this one really stands out for its exceptional craftsmanship and sleek, elegant design. It’s a truly unique and beautiful piece, rich in historical allure.

The metal tests 22 carat gold over silver, and the gemstone tests as onyx on a Presidium Gem Tester (pictured). The fob measures 16 mm or 0.6 inches in diameter not including the bale, and the onyx sphere has a 1.25 cm diameter.

We have paired this unusual fob with an 18 inch late Victorian or Edwardian (c 1900) barleycorn watch chain, made of tarnish proof gold tone alloy, with bolt and dog clip fastenings at either end. This allows it to be worn as a necklace, bracelet or watch ornament.
