This listing is for a Dudson jetware/ebony ware enameled "Empress" tankard with a pewter lid, circa 1870-1900. This Victorian Era piece was decorated with hand-painted enamel pink blooms and heavy foliage, along with extensive gilt embellishments. It also features turquoise enamel dots or jeweling around the entire body of this antique tankard. It is marked on the underside "Empress / RN 195003." The tankard possesses the thick shiny black glaze, gold pattern, and turquoise enamels that are typical of Dudson wares from this era. The tankard has some slight wear to the gilt and enameling, but otherwise it is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It measures approximately 9-1/8 inches tall.
I attribute this piece to Dudson, but another company may have made it.
