This is nice and old! A nice marking on the bottom of the platter dates this set circa 1876. Made by Brownfields & Sons, Staffordshire Potteries. The pattern name in the banner is "AYR", the name of a county in Scotland. There is also an impressed circle mark. Nice heavy earthenware. The rim on both pieces is scalloped. The outer border has a cobalt blue band that has a white scroll design inside the blue. The inner border is sprays of flowers with stems on a blue dotted background extending towards the well. A pretty pattern with a Flow Blue look. the condition is very good with no chips or cracks. The platter does have some very light staining. And the bottom of the vegetable dish has some stain circles. Measurements: Platter 14 1/2" x 10" Dish 12 length x 5" tall ( to top of knob) Please see a matching larger set of the same pattern at number 1036#6997.
