This wonderful Navy Blue on Ivory Transferware Covered Vegetable Dish measures 11" long ( handle to handle) and is 6 " wide. It is 5" tall. From the aesthetic movement, the pattern name is "Suez". A very distinctive floral border complements the branches of larger flowers, ivy and accenting circles. The handles and top knot are beaded. The bottom print mark is of a Bee Hive with a banner. Inside the banner is the pattern name "Suez". Above the beehive is Hill Pottery and below the initials B and L . From "Godden's" book of marks, this printed mark is #715; Burgess and Leigh, Middleport Pottery, Burslem Staffordshire Potteries. ; circa 1862+. This item is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. There is some light, minor discoloration on the inside bottom.
