This polychromed oriental oval dish measures 8" x 7"; the design on this dish is referred to as "Japan" colors. Vases with stylized floral arrangements have enameled flowers in cobalt blue, burnt - orange, green with gold highlights. The border is gilded with bas-relief design of scrolls. The dish is unmarked, but stamped with a number 5. This pattern is on a mush cup earthenware piece in Mary Frank Gaston's new book " English China" p. 57. The piece is dated 1830. This oval dish in great condition; the gilding around the rim is worn in places, the expected light crazing, but no chips or cracks.
