This lovely blue and white Transferware Platter was manufactured by D. Methven and Sons, Kirkcaldy Pottery Fife , Scotland circa 1840. It measures 13 1/2" x 12". The center is a garden scene with spouting water fountain, urns, and ladies relaxing around a pool. The 1 3/4" border depicts cartouches of statues alternating with grapes on leafy vines. It has a nice old print mark on the backside.
Condition is very good with one stable hairline crack on lower left side. It is hard to see. There is light crazing and some dark ink spots done during manufacturing.
