The craft of Pyrography was popular in the late 1800's and early 1900's. This particular box was made to hold candy " Columbia's Extra Fine Chocolates, Ft. Wayne, Ind." The burned work is well executed with a design of roses with stems. The inside of the flap lid is also decorated with roses. The box measures 11" x 5" x 2 3/8" The company logo is on the front and back side. The hinges are original and in good shape. The inside is very clean. The box is in very good condition, except for small bits of chip wood missing on the right front side of the lid. This is a great box to hold remote controls on a coffee table. A nice example of Victorian craft to enjoy!
