This is the most unusual Art Glass Bowl! I believe it was made during the Victorian era. Made by a skilled glass craftsman, this technique is an original. An interesting experimentation with repousse silver panels applied to the glass on the bowl surface and around pedestal. In the center of the panels are ovals of turquoise. The 6" x 3" silver panel is an elaborate embossed floral design with a border of silver chain. The color is a beautiful deep cobalt blue. On a pedestal , the bowl is 3 1/2" tall, 9" diameter with a 4" diameter base. The bowl edge is deeply scalloped. The base has a rough pontil which tells me it was hand blown by a glass artist. No signature.
A lot of creativity went into the making of this beautiful dish. The silver adds texture and a truly different decoration.
