This lovely Chintz Pitcher has the early 1916 Crown Ducal printed mark with the A.G.R. and Co., England. This item was manufactured by A.G. Richardson & Co. LTD, Gordon Pottery, Tunstall, Staffordshire Potteries. The Pitcher is 7" to the top of the spout. The rounded body bottom is approximately 5 1/2" wide on a 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" oval base.
The polychrome floral transfer pattern covers the entire surface of the pitcher. The pattern may be "Rose Parade". A pretty pattern of pink, orange, and blue flowers. Plus, colorful birds! Amazingly, it still has its metal lid with the initials A.M. on the underside.
Condition is good. There is one rim chip ( see pictures) some light crazing, faded gilt on handle and rim. This piece would be a nice addition to any collection especially since it is some of the first chintz made.
