What a charming Elephant! He was made by English Staffordshire Pottery Beswick. The mark on the underside is a Beswick postwar mark 1920's ( ref. Godden, Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks). The Elephant measures 7" long x 5" tall. The figurine is very detailed with skin texture. The head, eyes, ears, and trunk are realistic looking. The color is a nice shade of medium gray with a high gloss glaze. The feet have black toenails. Although it is hard to see, one of the ivory colored tusk has been repaired where the ivory meets the gray color. This item would make a whimsical accent to any room!
