This is a large 10 1/4" tall Antique Celery Vase. It has a 4" opening and the diameter of the base is 4". This heavy thick walled Celery Vase is extra nice in detail. The oval cut indentions around the bowl make it a stand out! The circular foot has a cut sunburst design underneath The vase's cylindrical bowl has a beaded rim and molded gadroon around the lower body. The rim has a manufacturer flaw or a good repair along five of the beads. They show some discoloration. Also there is a small slice chip on the underneath foot base. It does not show on the top side. There are some minor light surface scratches.
Until the 1890's celery was served in a upright footed vase made of free blown, mold-blown, or pressed glass. This vase is taller than others I have had to sell. One friend looked at it and said "Now that is a wine goblet!"
