I love Laurel Burch's colorful cat art. Here is a rock shaped cat in her Cat and Mouse pattern, hand painted and numbered, produced by Franklin Mint in 1998. It is no. A 3915. This delightful cobalt blue cat with a purple face and tail is covered in colorful mice with gold detailing. It is one of six in this series of egg shaped cats that Laurel Burch designed, but is the only one in the series that is reclining and more rock shaped than egg. It is about 2.5" tall and is roughly 3.5" long and about 1.75" wide at the fullest part of the body. The cat is in excellent condition. The paper sticker on the bottom states it was Crafted in Thailand. No box or paperwork is available.
If interested, I have another one of these cats with a stand in another ad.
A note about the artist: Laurel Burch was a California artist who became producing art work in 1960, including paintings and jewelry. After gaining financial backing and a trip to China where she learned of cloisonné enameling, she expanded her art to enamels, wood, fabric and other mediums. She licensed her designs to several companies in 1990. In 2007, she passed away from complications of osteopetrosis.
