Harmony Kingdom Limited Edition Peace Offering Box - image 1 of 9

The UK based Harmony Kingdom began making the Treasure Jest boxes in the early 1990's. They have quickly become highly collectible. The boxes are intricate carvings by master artists made of crushed marble and resin to resemble antique ivory, then hand painted by cottage craftsmen in England. The Treasure Jests are a humorous line often with secret images or markings that have meaning to artist's life.

"Peace Offering" is the third figurine box in the Bountiful Basket series. It features a beautiful basket of fruit with two songbirds on the lid, and a very full mouse reclining on the inside after helping himself to the fruit. It was carved by master carver David Lawrence in 1996, then released on 4/1/98 in a limited numbered edition of only 4200 boxes made exclusively for Parkwest/NALED retailers.

This box is numbered 3965, both on the inside edge of the lid and on the label on the presentation box. The dimensions of the piece are 2.05 x 2.13 x 2.48 inches. The model number is TJSEP98S. Hallmarks include the ©, a diamond, a clock face with month 7, the HBC logo (treble clef), and DL for the artist. It is in excellent condition with no damage. The corners of the basket that appear to be chipped are not. They were designed that way so the the overhanging fruit would fit snugly and hold the lid on.

Peace Offering is referenced in the 9th edition Price Guide to Contemporary Collectibles and Limited editions by Mary L. Sieber with a trend price of $75. This one is more reasonably priced and comes with in its original round presentation box with a Harmony Kingdom booklet.
