This beautiful Estee Lauder keepsake perfume box is in the shape of a chest with an intricate gold pattern. Written on the bottom of the chest in gold is "Created in Japan Especially for Estee Lauder Private Collection Keepsake Boxes."
These keepsake boxes were issued in the Christmas brochures, one each year, in the late 1970's and early 1980's, and originally came with a small bottle of Private Collection perfume inside. Private Collection perfume came on the market in 1973. The boxes were made in various shapes, including an egg, a globe, and this chest. The previous owner stated she purchased this set about 39 years ago at the Estee Lauder warehouse sale in New York.
The chest measures about 2" long, about 1.75" wide, and about 2" high. It is in perfect condition. Please look for my other ad for the companion piece shaped like a globe. These are truly gorgeous pieces to add to your Estee Lauder collection. $125
