Hummel figurines have been produced by Goebel in Germany since 1935. The figurines are based on the art work of Berta Hummel, a Franciscan nun known as Sister Mary Innocentia. These charming hand painted figurines are highly collectible.
This particular piece is The Photographer. It depicts a young boy taking photographs while his little dachshund looks on. The figurine was first produced in 1948 and is model #178. Both numbers are incised on the bottom, along with the 6th Goebel trademark with the missing bee and the artist's initials and year painted (1984). The missing bee trademark was used from 1979-1991. M. I. Hummel is incised on the back of the base. The figurine is in excellent undamaged condition. The piece measures about 4" wide and 4.75" tall. No box or paperwork available
