The English company, Halcyon Days Enamels, set out to revive the eighteenth century English craft of enameling over copper to produce lovely little boxes which were originally used for beauty patches, snuff, or candies.
This beautiful Christmas enamel box was made by Halcyon Days in 1985, and has the oval Halcyon Days Enamels mark on the underside. A snowy scene of two children playing with their Christmas toys is depicted on the lid surrounded by red ribbons. The edges of the box depict various gifts a child might receive on Christmas including a teddy bear, nutcracker, rocking horse, spinning top, doll, drums, horn, and dollhouse.
The enamel box is in excellent condition. The hinged lid opens easily and closes securely. The gold tone bezel is still bright and shiny. The interior of the lid has a black and white drawing of wrapped Christmas gifts. The box measures about 1.75" in diameter and stands about 1" tall. There is no presentation box or pamphlet with this one.
