In 1986-1988, the Franklin Mint issued a series of cat figurines for the Curio Cabinet Cats Collection. Each cat was produced from a different material, in different countries, and reflected various art forms popular through the ages.

This Staffordshire cat is made in the style of earthenware pottery animals called chimney ornaments used to decorate hearths which was popular around the beginning of the 19th century. The region of Staffordshire, England was noted for this type of pottery. This piece still has stamp stating The Franklin Mint 1986 and a paper label indicating it was Made in Japan. The cat measures about 1.75" wide and about 2.5" high. It is in excellent condition. No paperwork.
