This covered casserole dish with a pretty floral band pattern was produced by H & C (Heinrich & Co) in Selb, Bavaria, Germany. The company began using the crown H & C mark shown on the bottom of the plate in 1896. The pattern name is unknown. It consists of a band of yellow and red flowers with blue and green leaves used around the rim of the plate and and the rim of the lid. The edging and handle color appears to be 24K gold.
The piece is in very good condition with no cracks or crazing. There is a tiny chip on the lid rim which was painted over at the factory, and some minor paint loss on the handles. The casserole measures about 6.5" in diameter. The lid measures about 9.5" long and 7.5" wide. The casserole measures almost 12" from handle to handle, 7" across at the rim, and 2.5" deep without the lid.
