Ollie, the owl, is a NetsUKe Treasure Jest created by Master Carver Peter Calvesbert for Harmony Kingdom in 1999.
Harmony Kingdom not only produces box figurines for their Treasure Jest line, but also creates solid figurines called NetsUKe, that are reminiscent of Japanese netsuke figurines. The UK is capitalized to stand for the United Kingdom. Unlike the Japanese netsukes which are usually made from ivory, the Harmony Kingdom NetsUKes are made of crushed marble and resin, then hand painted by cottage workers in England.
This piece is in excellent condition and comes in its original box with the Harmony Kingdom pamphlet and place card. Hallmarks include the HBC logo (treble clef), the copyright symbol, and Pc for the artist. Peter's mouse is hiding beneath the owl's wingtip. Ollie is model number TJNOW with an edition size of 8610. The figurine was issued for sale on 1/1/2000, and retired on 4/14/2003. It measures 1.3 x 1.46 x 2.28 inches. The outer box has its old price sticker on it as well as the figurine labels. The label on the bottom of Ollie is signed by Noel Wiggins, a co-founder of the company, and dated 3.19.00.
Ollie is noted in The Harmony Kingdom Reference Guide by Leanna Barron on p. 113.
