This large hand painted porcelain box by Chamart was made in Limoges, France. Chamart, an importer of fine French porcelains, was founded by Charles Martine circa 1950's. In 1965, Chamart started producing Limoges boxes. All of their pieces are completely hand painted.
This beautiful box features a large wild cat, possibly a leopard, sitting in a field of grasses. The hand painted mark on the bottom states Peint main Exclusivite' "Chamart", Limoges, France. The box is in excellent condition. It measures about 5.25" long, almost 3.5" wide and about 3" tall. The brass clasp features a ribbon. The interior has a hand painted coconut tree amidst some shrubbery and grass. Just a beautiful box to add to your Limoges collection.
