I love Laurel Burch's colorful cat art. Here is an egg shaped cat in her Flowering Feline pattern, hand painted and numbered, produced by Franklin Mint in 1996. It is no. D 7065. This delightful black cat with a purple face and tail is covered in colorful flowers with gold detailing. The cat stands about 3" tall and is roughly 2" wide at the fullest part of the body. The cat is in excellent condition. No box or paperwork is available. It is one of six in this series of egg shaped cats that Laurel Burch designed. This one comes with its own little metal stand, which has a few light scratches and a tiny area of rust.
A note about the artist: Laurel Burch was a California artist who became producing art work in 1960, including paintings and jewelry. After gaining financial backing and a trip to China where she learned of cloisonne enameling, she expanded her art to enamels, wood, fabric and other mediums. She licensed her designs to several companies in 1990. In 2007, she passed away from complications of osteopetrosis.
