Gobblefest is a special edition event piece Treasure Jest box figurine originally carved by Master Carver Peter Calvesbert in 1999 for Gobblefest attendees. This was the third annual event done as an in-stores celebration by Harmony Kingdom . After the model was reproduced in resin and crushed marble, then hand painted by cottage artists in England, it was issued for sale to the attendees at Gobblefest on 9/1/1999 in an edition size of 13501. It was retired on 11/1/1999.
Gobblefest depicts a magnificent turkey sitting on a platter with vegetables at his feet and a Mr Potato Head lying behind him. The mouse peeks out from under the turkey's wing. Hallmarks include the moon, copyright symbol, the HBC logo (treble clef), and the artist's initials, Pc. This box figurine is in excellent condition and comes in its original green box. The model number is TJEVG099. The box measures 2.52 x 2.76 x 2.99 inches.
Several variations of the piece were issued, but no one could determine which variation they received until opening the tamper proof packing and viewing the interior. This particular piece was one of only 500 mould variations made in which the interior depicted "Governor Bradford, founder of Plymouth Colony, negotiating a treaty with Massasoit, chief of the Wampanoag tribe. It is said that the two became fast friends and threw a big party that they called “Thanksgiving.”" The Governor has an arrow through his hat, thus this variation is called "Arrow."
Gobblefest is found in The Harmony Kingdom Reference Guide by Leanna Barron on p. 221. Just a wonderful event piece to add to your collection!
