Avon started this glass dinnerware line in 1974, contracting with the Wheaton Glass Company to produce the pieces. The intricate pattern called 1876 Cape Cod Collection, or generally known as Cape Cod, was based on a 19th century sandwich glass pattern known as Roman Rosette. Some of the original pieces were filled with cologne or bubble bath. As its popularity grew, Avon added additional pieces to expand the pattern as a dinnerware line. The pattern was discontinued in the late 1990's.
