This olive green striped jar is the base for the Pixieware Olives jar produced by Holt-Howard ceramics company in 1958. Originally, the jar was called Cocktail Olives and was part of a bar set which included jars labeled onions and cherries. Later on the word cocktails was removed to allow broader marketing appeal. It is missing the pixie flat head lid with tines to spear the olives. This base would be a good replacement piece if you still have the lid, or just use it as is to serve olives.
The jar has olive green striping with intact lettering. There is overall light crazing but no chips or cracks. It also has a few errant pinpoint spots of paint. The jar measures about 3" high and roughly 4.25" wide across the fullest park of the body. The Holt-Howard stamp is on the bottom as well as the copyright date of 1958. The original jars with the pixie lids can be seen in Walter Dworkin's "Price Guide to Holt-Howard Collectibles and related Ceramicwares of the '50s and '60s."
