Softly, Softly is a large Treasure Jest box figurine which features a large barn owl holding a clockwork mouse in its talons. The mouse has the initials SF on it which stands for the artist's son, Samuel Frederick Calvesbert . Master Carver Peter Calvesbert carved the original mold for this piece in 2002 for Harmony Kingdom of England. After reproducing the model in hand painted boxes made from crushed marble and resin, the pieces were issued on 3/21/2002 to the Royal Watch Club members only. It was retired on 6/30/2003. Edition size was 2344.
Softly, Softly has an inner carving of loads of mice the owl has caught. It also has a discarded tin can which had been used in earlier works as a reminder of man's impact on the environment. Hallmarks include the copyright symbol, peace sign, HBC logo and Pc for the artist.
This box figurine is in excellent condition and comes in its original box with the Harmony Kingdom pamphlet. The dip on the edge of the back of his neck is not a chip but may be a manufacturing flaw as it has been hand painted with the stain used to color the owl. The model number is RW02OW. It measures 2 x 2.2 x 4.6 inches. The round green box has several stickers including an old price sticker on the lid and the underside of the box figurine.
Softly, Softly is found in The Harmony Kingdom Reference Guide by Leanna Barron on p. 199.
