Georgie, a fearsome dragon, is a NetsUKe Treasure Jest created by Master Carver Peter Calvesbert for Harmony Kingdom of England in 2000.
Harmony Kingdom not only produced box figurines for their Treasure Jest line, but also does solid figurines called NetsUKe, that are reminiscent of Japanese netsuke figurines. The UK is capitalized to stand for the United Kingdom. Unlike the Japanese netsukes which are usually made from ivory, the Harmony Kingdom NetsUKes are made of crushed marble and resin, then hand painted by cottage workers in England.
Georgie is model number TJNDR with an edition size of 8857. The figurine was issued for sale on 6/1/2000, and retired on 10/1/2008. It measures 1.7 x 1.7 x 2.3 inches. This particular piece is signed on the bottom with a caricature of a frog wearing a crown, the date, 2000, and the words Prince P?, and the initials dL for David Lawrence, one of the Harmony Kingdom artists.
This NetsUKe is in excellent condition and comes in its original box with the Harmony Kingdom pamphlet and place card. The green box has several labels including an old price sticker on one side.
The mouse peeks out from under the dragon's tail near the base. Hallmarks include the copyright symbol, Pc for the artist, a treble clef, and double diamonds.
Georgie is noted in The Harmony Kingdom Reference Guide by Leanna Barron on p. 113.
