This beautiful vintage pattern produced by Lefton China around the 1950s is called Violet Chintz. This listing is for two snack sets with plates and teacups. All pieces are in excellent condition. They feature gold detailing, scalloped rims and bases, and a sweet violet pattern all over. Although the backstamp marks state Lefton China Hand Painted, the violet design appears to be a decal. The gold was probably hand painted. There is a stamped model number on all four pieces of 638. Under the mark it also states Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.
The plates are in the shape of a scallop shell with scalloped edges and indentations for the teacups to sit. The plates measure 8" in diameter. The teacups stand 2.5" tall and are 2.25" wide at the rim.
This is really a pretty set to add to your chintz collection, or your Violet Chintz dinnerware set.
