Pride and Joy is a Large Treasure Jest made in England for Harmony Kingdom. It features a mother tiger playing with her cub, and was the first box to feature a mother and child. The artist Peter Calvesbert carved this piece in 1993. It was issued to the public from 2/1/1993 until it was retired on 10/1/1998. The model identification is TJLTI. The edition size produced was 12, 102.
This delightful box figurine was an early piece thus has no hallmarks or mouse or inner carving. It does have A93 carved on the inside rim of the base. However, the Harmony Kingdom site states "On the lip of the base is “A, P and 93.” On the lid under the cub’s head, the “A” and “P” appear again, plus an “M” and “X”, which represent the car of Peter’s dreams." Not sure, if this difference indicates it was an early or later piece in the edition.
The figurine measures 5.59 x 2.83 x 3.5 inches. It is in excellent condition and comes in its original round green box with a Harmony Kingdom pamphlet. The paper label is still affixed to the underside of the figurine. Pride and Joy is referenced in the Ninth Edition Price Guide to Contemporary Collectibles and Limited Editions by Mary Sieber on p.384.
