This piece was given the name "Step Aside." This neat crab is a large Treasure Jest box figurine made in England by the Martin Perry Studios for Harmony Kingdom. It is signed on the underside of the lid (aka crab's head) by Peter Calvesbert, an artist for Harmony Kingdom, and by Martin Perry, the founder and artistic director of Harmony Kingdom. Martin Perry designed the piece in 1990 by using an actual crab shell from Scotland for the mould. It is made of crushed marble and resin that resembles ivory, and then hand painted. It is in excellent condition (actually old new stock) and comes with the original tall round box and a small pamphlet about Harmony Kingdom. The crab measures about 5.5" long, 3.5" wide and 2" deep. The piece was first issued on 5/1/1993 and retired on 5/1/2001 with an edition size of 8759. It is mentioned on p.384 of the 9th Edition Price Guide to Contemporary Collectibles and Limited Editions by Mary L. Sieber. It is one of the earliest pieces made, thus does not incorporate the "secrets", hallmarks or mouse found in later pieces.
