This pretty sterling silver match box holder has a repousse floral pattern. The back side is smooth and inscribed S Kirk & Son Sterling 90F. S Kirk stands for Samuel Kirk, an American silversmith who began his silver business in Baltimore in 1815. After Kirk died in 1872, his son continued the business and later was joined by his son. The company merged with Steiff Company in 1979 and became known as The Kirk Steiff Company.
The match box holder has an empty cardboard match box inside which box slides out, but the exterior of the box does not. I did not want to pry too much in fear of damaging the box. The holder is in excellent condition other than needing a bit of polishing. The match box holder measures 1" x 1.75" x .5". The mark would date this piece to about 1932.
