In 1986-1988, the Franklin Mint issued a series of cat figurines for the Curio Cabinet Cats Collection. Each cat was produced from a different material, in different countries, and reflected various art forms popular through the ages.
This beautiful porcelain cat is done in the style of black basalt. It has a matte finish with a shiny gold finish on the collar. This particular piece is stamped with the Franklin Mint logo and date of 1988. The cat measures about 3" high. It is in excellent condition. The insert explaining the history of black basalt is unavailable.
