This Bill Sikes figurine, a character from Dickens' "Oliver Twist,"
is from the Series One Dickens miniature figurines produced by Royal Doulton. I have seen the name spelled Bill Sykes, as it is in the Royal Doulton reference book, but the name on the backstamp is spelled Bill Sikes, as it was spelled by Charles Dickens.
The backstamp indicates it was from the M varieties which were issued from 1932-1949. The addition of what appears as the number 12 on the bottom would indicate production of this piece was in 1939.
The figurine has the model number M54. The Designer was L. Harradine. The figurine stands about 3.75" tall and is in excellent condition with no damage. There is no box.
