This 5 quart soup tureen is in the beautiful old pattern of Pfaltzgraff introduced in the 1940's and discontinued in 1988. It was originally called Gourmet Royale, but is also known as Gourmet, Gourmet Brown, or Brown Drip. It features a rich, deep, blackish brown with a creamy drip glaze that varies from one piece to another. The tureen is in good used condition. It has several long thin scratches on one side and a pinhead spot where the glaze did not cover. There are no chips or cracks. The lid sits in the well of the pot but is very loose. It serves the purpose but due to the looseness I am not sure it is the original lid (although other pieces I own personally also have loose lids). The lid is 5.25" in diameter. The tureen measures about 11" from side to end of handle, and stands about 8" tall without the lid. The bottom is marked Pfaltzgraff, USA and what looks like 11/4.
