The neat vintage black cat cruet was produced in the 1950's in Japan. Although this piece is unmarked except for the number 549, it has all the characteristics of Shafford pottery - cold painted red bow tie, white eyeliner, lashes and whiskers, green eyes with black pupils, and made from red clay. It is in great condition with only light cold paint loss on the feet and three small chips on the base which are not noticeable when sitting.. The head is removable with an attached clay stopper which fits into the cork lined neck. The raised paw acts as the spout. The cat stands 8" tall.
