Rosenthal Angora Cat Lying by Theodor Karner
This gorgeous porcelain cat was modeled by Professor Theodor Karner (1884-1966), one of Germany's renown artists. Professor Karner worked for Rosenthal, Hutschenreuther, and other great porcelain houses. This particular piece was designed in the mid 1920's. It is stamped with the classic rose Rosenthal mark indicating it was produced in Bahnhof Selb Germany. It is also incised T. Karner and 169 for the model number.
The expression on the face, the palest of green eyes and the beautiful detailing of the long hair with blushes of soft pink combine to make this an impressive cat. She measures about 9.75" long and 4.5" high. There are green felt cushions attached to the bottom to protect your furniture. The previous owner stated that she had a small professional repair done to one ear, but even under a black light one cannot detect where the repair was made. She is gorgeous!
