In 1986-1988, the Franklin Mint issued a series of cat figurines for the Curio Cabinet Cats Collection. Each cat was produced from a different material, in different countries, and reflected various art forms popular through the ages. This Satsuma cat represents the Satsuma ware that has been produced since the early 17th century in Japan's Satsuma province. This piece still has stamp stating The Franklin Mint 1986 and a paper label indicating it was crafted in Japan. The cat measures about 3" long and about 1.5" high. It is in excellent condition. The collar on this cat is a dark mauve, rather than the pink seen on those produced in other countries. No paperwork.
