In 1986-1988, the Franklin Mint issued a series of cat figurines for the Curio Cabinet Cats Collection. Each cat was produced from a different material, in different countries, and reflected various art forms popular through the ages.
This charming porcelain cat is painted in the style of Japanese Imari designs popular since the 17th century. This particular piece is stamped with the Franklin Mint logo and 1988. The cat measures about 3" long and 1" high. It is in excellent condition. The camera makes the blue show lighter, but it is actually darker in person. No insert explaining the history of Imari art is available.
