Harmony Kingdom Rather Large Friends Treasure Jest Box Figurine
The UK based Harmony Kingdom began making the Treasure Jest boxes in the early 1990's. They have quickly become highly collectible. The boxes are intricate carvings by master artists made of crushed marble and resin to resemble antique ivory. The Treasure Jests are a humorous line often with secret images or markings that have meaning to artist's life.
This retired box, produced in England, is "Rather Large Friends." According to Harmony Kingdom, "Rather Large Friends is an enlarged version of the Small Treasure Jest "Purrfect Friends." Hallmarks include apple, clock face with month 10, HBC logo, and Pc." A total of 9350 boxes were produced for this piece. The box was originally carved by master carver Peter Calvesbert in 1995 and released on 2/1/1996. It was retired on 10/1/98. The dimensions of the piece are 4.13 x 4.21 x 3.74 inches. The model number is TJRLCA. Rather Large Friends is referenced in the 9th edition Price Guide to Contemporary Collectibles and Limited editions by Mary L. Sieber. The box figurine comes with the original box and insert. There is one tiny nick on the orange cat's ear closest to the white cat. It appears to be part of the piece or perhaps a manufacturing flub, rather than a chip. Otherwise, the condition is excellent. Any cat lover you know will be thrilled with this piece. Can you find the two little mice nestled among the cats?
