Kingsley Enamels I Love You Trinket Box
These beautiful little boxes are very collectible and are a revival of a three centuries old craft of enameling over copper, most well known from the Bilston and Battersea areas of England. The boxes were originally produced for the aristocracy as toys or bibelots to hold beauty marks (patches), sweets (breath fresheners), or snuff. Today they are used as trinket boxes, pill boxes, or just collected as beautiful small objects of art.
This particular enameled box was produced by Kingsley Enamels of Worcestershire, England. The company had an illustrious history of fine metal and enamel work spanning from1904 until they were acquired by Moorcroft in 1998, and renamed Moorcroft Enamels. Moorcroft closed their enamel production in 2006.
This box measures 1.75" wide and 1" tall. The base is a gorgeous light mint green enamel over copper. The bezel is 22K gold plated brass. The lid depicts a bouquet of beautiful flowers with a ribbon stating "I love you." It appears to be a transfer print. The box is in excellent condition and comes in its original brown box with yellow satin lining. The presentation box is in good condition but does have a small white sticker on the underside stating T345 in ink which was probably an inventory number. An insert is included on Traditional Kingsley Enamels.
