Lladro lists this retired piece as "Shepard with Bird" on its web site, but Peggy Whiteneck's "Second Edition Collecting Lladro Identification & Price Guide" calls this piece "Bird Watcher." It is model # 4730 done in a matte finish. This charming porcelain figurine was sculpted by Vicente Martínez for issue in 1970. It was retired in 1985. This piece measures 8.25" long, 4.75" wide, and about 6" high. The figurine is in excellent condition with no damage. The Lladro blue mark without the accent is on the underside along with a few incised numbers and symbols. This mark was only used from about 1971 until 1974, according to Whiteneck. According to the price guide, this piece was worth $300-400 in 2003. Prices continue to rise on these remarkable figurines. Here's your chance to add to your collection at 2003 prices.
