The UK based Harmony Kingdom began making the Treasure Jest boxes in the early 1990s. They have quickly become highly collectible. The boxes are intricate carvings by master artists made of crushed marble and resin to resemble antique ivory. The Treasure Jests are a humorous line often with secret images or markings that have meaning to artist's life. This box is "School's Out". According to Harmony Kingdom, "this box figurine features a school of fish, one swimming upside down. Peter's tin can is present, and the mouse swims along with his aquatic friends. One variation occurred in October 1994 when more rocks were added to thicken the base. There is no inner carving or inscription." This box is appears to be one with the added rocks. A total of 33,230 boxes were produced for this piece (including all the variations).
The box was originally carved by master carver Peter Calvesbert in 1993 and retired on 4-1-1999. The dimensions of the piece are 2.32 x 1.46 x 2.2 inches. The model number is TJFI. School's Out is referenced in the 9th edition Price Guide to Contemporary Collectibles and Limited editions by Mary L. Sieber. The box figurine is in excellent condition, but unfortunately does not come with the original box or insert.
