Here’s a gorgeous antique Georgian or early Victorian agate brooch in 14K yellow gold!

Dating to the 1800's this striking brooch features a large reddish-orange agate cabochon held in an ornamental open-backed bezel. The bezel has ridges along its circumference and shallow triple-prongs spaced along its edge. The agate matrix is a fascinating mix of red, orange, brown, dark yellow, and dark, shiny and reflective silver-colored pyrite.

The gold is unmarked and acid tests as 14K. On its reverse the brooch bears its original c-clasp and tube hinge, and its pin (which acid tests as 800 or 900 silver) extends beyond the body of the brooch. This enables it to be tucked into the wearer's clothing, a feature common in Georgian and early Victorian brooches.
