Antique Banded Agate Brooch Pin Bullseye Gilt 800 Silver Scottish Estate Art Deco 1920's

Here’s a beautiful antique or early vintage banded agate bullseye brooch set in gilt 800 silver!

Though this lovely brooch is reminiscent of Victorian mourning jewelry, its clasp dates it later and we believe it's a piece of 1920's Scottish agate Victorian Revival jewelry. The focal point is the magnificent oblong cabochon of banded agate, with layers that give an elongated bullseye effect. The agate is held in an open-backed bezel and encircled in a two-tier decorative frame with repeating patterns.

The body of this estate brooch is signed 800 on its reverse for 800 silver and acid testing confirms it to be 800 silver. The silver has a mellow, yellow tone and it's possible there's a thin layer of gold on its surface. It retains its original time-created patina, enhancing its antique beauty.
