Featured is a large Mettlach stoneware covered tureen and underplate in the Renaissance taste by Villeroy & Boch circa 1874 to 1909. It is impressed with castle mark and number 2087. The tureen body is modeled in high relief with dancing Germans on a blue ground, and lion mask handles. The plate and lid are decorated German text. The lid has a serpent loop handle. Height 14 1/4 in., plate diameter 16 1/4 in.
It is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks.
