There is an error noted on one of the front pages, referring to a later page. 452 pages including appendices and acknowledgements page. Heavy cloth binding that shows mild wear. Color on spine is washed out, but the spine is reinforced and in excellent condition. Pages are slightly yellow from age and some show light to moderate spotting. Photographs of Captain Porter's daughter, six survivors of Captain Penny's company, Mrs. Martha Cox and her daughter, officers of Merrill Horse, Miss Lucy Young (this page has pulled away from the spine), Gen. Odon Guitar, David Whiteside, Captain Sylvester B. Penny, Lt. Colorel Frisby H. McCullough, and Captain James W. Porter.
