Here is a 1950s Austrian Piantik children’s playing card game, an animal quartet, a complete deck in its original box, and multilingual: German, English and French.
This game is of great pedagogical value and makes it easy to learn animal names in different languages! Also, a perfect gift for the vintage playing cards collector!
The box is designed to resemble a book, and the title is: “Tier Quartett nr. 279”. Since Ferdinand Piantic & Sons, located in Vienna, now a firm of international renown, was founded in 1824, and produces playing cards of all thinkable sorts since, it is conceivable that our animal quartet here should have such a high number.
The cards were played with, but are in best condition, even a sheet with the rules for the game is still present, this sadly, is only printed in German.
The animal pictures were painted by academic painter Hubert Lechner, as the is proudly announced on the box. The box itself shows slight signs of age.
Box measures 12 cm / 4 ¾ inches by 9 cm / 3 ½ inches & 3 cm / 1 ¼ inches deep.
