Here is the most astonishing antique Armand Marseille Marotte, made about 1896, in original costume and with working music box and “with bells on”, as they say!!
The bisque head is marked: “3200 AM 10/OX DEP Germany”, the patent was first mentioned in 1896. The shoulder head is made of pink tinted bisque, not white like usual. The blue paperweight glass eyes are fixed. Eyelashes painted, brows single stroke. The mouth is open with 4 teeth. Mohair wig and felt cap are glued on. The head is attached to a cylindrical shaped carton, containing a musical mechanism, still working, a lovely chime! When twirled, the doll revolves freely around and music plays.
Our antique AM Marotte doll has her original pink costume, a lace, sateen, and silk cape – like dress, decorated with bells and pompoms. Apart from the front pompom that was made by me and the first bell on her left, that I added, the costume is all original, with some little wear on the right shoulder. Curiously, the left nostril is blocked with a tiny lump of porcelain paste, the right one is accentuated.
The old musical jester doll is 30 cm / 12 inches long without cap, the corpus + head measure 16 cm / 6 inches.
Please, be aware that this listing is for the antique Marotte ONLY! All other items you see in the photographs will NOT come with the antique AM Marotte!
