This is a fine, antique 19th century English transparent compass. So very rare to find in 18 karat gold and in a transparent design.
I love the symbolism applied to giving a compass as a special token of affection. To paraphrase W.H Auden "You are my North, my South, my East and West." Also perfect for a someone leaving for school or work. "This will always guide you home."
This compass is in excellent, original condition. It has a bold bezel and is beautifully made. It is shown in a photo with a watch chain that has already sold. It can be used with any chain of choice and easily layered with other pendants.
It measures slightly less than one inch in diameter X 1 1/8th long with the bail.
England, circa 1890
