These rare and beautiful antique cameo earrings are French, circa 1850. They are like small sculptures, perfect from every angle .
The proportion and use of chalcedony as the hardstone to carve, elevates these to another level of artistry. The chalcedony is a bluish gray, which is so subtle and soft in coloration. The cavings are finely rendered of a woman in profile. The gold is detailed with rope twist accents on the inner and outer part of the gold ring. The cameos articulate within the gold ring and also from the top section. The top part are pearls, a perfect complement in color to the bottom profiles.
They are simple, elegant and larger in scale than most cameo earrings, refined and subtle.
They measure 1 3/4 inches long x 1 inch across. They retain French guarantee stamp and maker's mark on the ear wires.
They are in superb condition and completely original .
Easily worn with a tee shirt and jeans or a black dress...
