Antique Victorian diamond brooch/ pendant circa 1880. This is finely designed with old mine cut diamonds. The gold work is lace-like and very beautiful worn against the skin or on fabric. Notice the subtle star motif in the center.
The diamonds are a very good quietly, white, radiant G-H , SI1 -SI2. The central stone is approximately .48 carats and the accent diamonds weigh approximately 2.52 carats. Total weight is approximately 3 carats.
The setting is 15 carat silver top gold. The reverse has the original 9 karat brooch mounting that unscrews if it is worn as a pendant. There is a fold down bail when worn as a pin. It also can be worn as a brooch in either direction. There is also a tiny hook on the reverse at the bottom if you wish to use a ribbon in lieu of a chain. It is so versatile and beautifully designed.
It measures 1 1/2 inches long without the bail and 1 1/4 inches across.
Always in style and always elegant...
